Methodology & the Fit Score
EZ-TRIALS is a neutral layer above public clinical-research data. We believe the numbers we show should be explainable, so here is exactly how our model works, where the data comes from, and what our scores do — and do not — mean.
The PACE model
Every workflow on EZ-TRIALS follows four steps — Pinpoint, Assess, Connect, Enable.
P · Pinpoint
Find untapped, research-capable capacity across known sites and community white space, drawn from the public NPPES NPI Registry and ClinicalTrials.gov.
A · Assess
Score each site for fit using the transparent Fit Score below, plus data-trust badges and Site Passports.
C · Connect
Reach out through feasibility requests, opportunity pipelines, and direct engagement — from discovery to activation.
E · Enable
Bring research-naive community sites up to research-ready with the Path to Trial-Ready and enablement partners.
The two signals we show
EZ-TRIALS shows two indicators, and they belong to two different points in your journey. We give them deliberately different shapes so they are never confused — the first is a number, the second is a letter grade. Read them in order.
The Fit Score
A 0–100 number that ranks who to approach first.
The Fit Score estimates how well a site fits a given research opportunity — before you have contacted anyone. Use it to rank thousands of sites so you know where to start. It is estimated entirely from public registry data.
What it is NOT. It is not a “how full is this site” figure. A score of 50 does not mean the site is 50% booked, and it is never measured against a trial’s required enrollment. Always confirm real capacity with the site directly.
How it is calculated
A weighted blend of ten dimensions. The weights are fixed and applied to every site equally.

| Research experience | 10% | Prior appearance on ClinicalTrials.gov as a study location (low by default for white-space sites). |
| Diversity reach | 8% | Geographic proxy for reaching under-represented populations. |
| Activation readiness | 8% | Organization type as a proxy for how quickly a site could be stood up. |
| Competition (inverted) | 6% | Estimated crowding of nearby research activity — lower competition scores higher. |
| Data confidence | 6% | How complete and recent the underlying registry data is for this site. |
For research-naive community sites we also show a Potential Score — the same blend weighted toward clinical fit, patient access, and geography — to reflect upside once a site is enabled.
The Fast-Roll Level
A letter grade for how ready an engaged site actually is.
Once a site has engaged, the Fast-Roll Level shows how much of its reusable prequalification package is complete and verified. Unlike the Fit Score, this is based on what the site itself has provided — not our estimate.

| Level A | 75%+ | Top class — the reusable prequalification package is largely complete and independently verified. |
| Level B | 50–74% | Mid tier — around half of the package is complete; a few areas still need documents or verification. |
| Level C | Under 50% | Getting started — the site has begun its package but most of it is still to be completed. |
A Fast-Roll Level is never an approval, endorsement, or guarantee of selection — it only describes how complete a site's paperwork is.
Where the data comes from
- NPPES NPI Registry (public) — site identity, organization type, specialty/taxonomy, location, and contact phone. We only list sites that have a real, reachable contact method.
- ClinicalTrials.gov (public) — trial records and the study locations that establish a site’s prior research history and a sponsor’s known network.
Our commitments
- We never invent a relationship, a partnership, or a “verified” status that isn’t in the source data.
- We never showcase a site that has no real, reachable contact.
- Payment or site-budget terms, where shown, are disclosed by sponsors — never estimated by EZ-TRIALS.
- Scores are decision-support for outreach prioritization, not a substitute for a site’s own feasibility confirmation.
